​U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE BLACK-FOOTED FERRET RECOVERY PLAN

​Recovery of the black-footed ferret, as an endangered species, is overseen throughout the United States by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service under the Endangered Species Act. The Black-footed Ferret Recovery Plan (Second Revision, November 2013) outlines the recovery objectives for black-footed ferrets throughout the nation. This national-level plan generally serves as the framework for many state-level plans drafted by individual states.

MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR THE BLACK-FOOTED FERRET IN ARIZONA

In Arizona, black-footed ferret management is guided by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. The Management Plan for the Black-footed Ferret in Arizona outlines strategies for the management and conservation of black-footed ferrets and Gunnison's prairie dogs in Arizona. The plan also identifies potential reintroduction areas for black-footed ferrets.

This plan described population objectives and management strategies for ferrets and black-tailed prairie dogs found in eastern portions of the state.

Management strategies for black-footed ferrets found in Wyoming are advised by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and the Wyoming Black-footed Ferret Working Group. The Wyoming Black-footed Ferret Management Plan outlines the history of current reintroduction sties, objectives for managing existing populations, and the process for selecting new sites in Wyoming.

The Montana Black-Footed Ferret Conservation and Management Guidelines describes the recovery and management goals for black-footed ferrets in Montana. This document defines an adaptive process for initiating and maintaining ferret populations throughout the State. This plan was developed by Montana, Fish, Wildlife and Parks along with members of the Montana Prairie Dog and Black-footed Ferret Working Group.
